1964
For two weeks in summer of 1964
Sister Joeann Daley and Sister Kathleen Broderick of the Dominican order worked sunrise to sunset on the scaffolding using noxzema bottles, beer bottles, and car tail lights; whatever they could get their hands on to create the shrine of our Lady of Guadalupe.
``Our shoe's were filled with water and clay, and our habits stained brown with dirt. In some way this helped us connect with the hard working immigrant families we served ``
Sister Joeann Daley.

``Everybody seemed happy, there was lots of laughter and playing games - it was such a beautiful environment``
Sister Joeann Daley talking of the spirit of the grounds.

Father Dale Grubba
The volunteer effort to save the shrine from the ravages of time is being led by Rev. Dale Grubba, a young 80 year-old and native of the area who was familiar with the shrine, church and adjoining casa meeting space from his younger days as a seminarian.
“While right now Endeavor may seem like a little town left behind, we are going to bring new life to it with this project”
Fr. Grubba
