Our mission

Project plan

Located in Endeavor, WI, the Lady of Guadalupe garden is approximately 1-acre and is meant to restore a spiritual landscape that celebrates the story of a chapel and shrine originally built to support the social, health, and educational needs of the regional migrant community as far back as the early 1950s.

The overall site plan is divided into a series of intimate garden rooms, designed to provide moments of respite while encouraging spiritual reflection. Starting at Our Lady Plaza, visitors are welcomed with an introduction to the gardens and to those individuals and organizations who made the restoration possible.

From here, visitors are able to meander along Rose Walk which showcases a historical timeline of events while immersed in a summer garden filled with plants specifically selected for their aromatic qualities. The walk eventually guides you to Juan Diego’s Green, which is framed by evergreens and bookended by the historic shrine and mosaic to the north, and the chapel to the south.

Directly in front of the shrine is a small seating and reflection area dedicated to Sister Lucan and Sister Gratiana, who created the original mosaic of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Juan Diago on Mount Tepeyac.

A secondary and more intimate path is located along the west edge of the garden and is referred to as O’Connor and Hastrich Station’s of the Cross. Under a spring canopy of white blossoms with a backdrop of woodland shrubs, the path provides a steady rhythm for spiritual reflection and an elevated view of Priscilla’s Garden Classroom.

Named after the first school administrator, Priscilla’s Garden Classroom provides an outdoor space with tables, chairs and an overhead pergola able to accommodate small gatherings and events while immersed in a woodland garden.

Just north of the classroom is Tepeyac picnic knoll, designed as informal seating with views of the chapel and gardens below.
